Summary
A pair of wooden headed Dutch 'Grodener Tal' or peg wooden dolls. Moulded and painted facial features and black painted hair. Jointed arms and legs. The lower half of the arms and legs are painted white with red painted feet to imitate shoes. Each has a deep pink satin bodice, one of which is decorated with grains of rice. Each has a conical shaped cardboard skirt, glued at the waist. The skirt is covered with crushed rice granules and whole grains of rice. The skirts are also decorated with gold coloured paper. Many of the grains of rice have become unstuck and lost. One of the dolls has a cardboard stand inside the skirt. Each doll has a deep pink satin tray with artifical flowers in it.
