Summary
A wooden doll, with metal spring jointed arms, hands, legs and feet, made by Albert Schoenhut. She has moulded and painted facial features and a blonde mohair wig. She is wearing a cream cotton long robe with lace trimmed collar and cuffs. Each cuff is shaped with a draw string tie. On the sole of each foot are two holes - the straight hole allows the doll to hold the foot resting flat, the oblique hole, above, allows the doll to hold the foot in a tip toe position. The flexible spring jointing system, patented in 1911, allows much movement but was rigid enough for the doll to be posed without falling over - see page 15 of 'The Ultimate Doll Book' (by Caroline Goodfellow).
