Summary
A bisque-headed doll with brown glass open-shut eyes with eyelashes, an open mouth with six teeth visible, painted facial features and curly dark brown artificial hair. Her body, arms and legs are composition, jointed at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, tops of legs and knees (ball-and-socket at the elbows and knees). Her fingernails and toenails are painted pink. She is completely dressed in white. She is wearing a broderie anglaise dress with a high neck, long linen sleeves edged with broderie anglaise, and frills at the shoulders. It fastens at the centre back and at the cuffs with fabric-covered buttons and loops, and has a long piece of pale blue ribbon tied around the waist. Underneath is a linen waist petticoat with pintucks, a lace insert and lace edging. Under this are a pair of knitted cotton knickers, with elastic at the waist (although this has perished), and '[] MARQUE DEPOSEE/ COTON 2 ans' printed in blue and red on the left side of the front. On her feet she has white leather boots with moccassin-style fronts and eyelet holes (but no laces). These are lined with cotton fleece. On the base of each is stamped '20' in blue and a transfer of 'KiD/ PEAU LAVABLE' in red, blue and cream. Also in the box is a length of green ribbon and a cream woollen shawl. The shawl is knitted, with a wavy, lacy, knitted border. It has been darned and has a few small stains and a large hole in the border. Total number of items is three
