Summary
A 19th century sampler worked in coloured wools on linen with a very open weave and made by Mary Webster in 1867, age 9 years. Along with the alphabet, upper and lower case, there is 'Mary Webster A9Y/ Whitwell School 1867', all within a border worked in blue. The fabric is quite dirty, but the colours of the wool are still very bright.
