Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs Jean Coates in February 1984. A note with the garments from the donor reads - "There were four of us, Alan born 1911, Derek born 1917, Jean (myself) born 1919 and Brian born 1925. My aunt did fine embroidery and my mother made all the clothes, I think, except the Christening robe which I know my aunt made. She did all the broderie anglaise by hand. Apart from that, I have had to guess. Jean Coates (nee Rogers)." An additional note reads - "girls knickers worn by Jean Rogers early 1920s."
