Summary

A vinyl 'Sashababy' doll, model '501, Baby, Sandy, Honey Blond Hair' in a straw cradle, in her original box (1981 to 1984). The doll was made by the company 'Trendon Limited', Stockport, UK. This doll model was produced between 1981 and 1986. The doll was donated in 1984, so has been dated between 1981 and 1984. Sasha dolls were created by a Swiss artist called Sasha Morgenthaler. From 1965 Sasha dolls were produced by various different companies and then in 1970 'Trendon Limited', Stockport, UK began production. Trendon Limited produced these dolls until 1984 when 'Sasha Dolls Limited' became the selling company until 1986 when the factory closed. This is a hard vinyl doll. She has a light brown coloured body with a swivel head and jointed arms and legs. She has moulded facial features with painted brown eyes and eyebrows. She has a mass of short blonde nylon hair. She is wearing a brown and white cotton long sleeved checked dress and knickers. The dress is fastened at the back with two velcro strips. The oblong cradle with high sides is made of strips of plaited cream straw with a rubber band threaded through at the top and bottom, to hold the doll in place. The original white cardboard oblong box has an oval of cellophane on the top. 'Sashababy' is printed in blue on the top front and on one small side with a circle of blue inset with white and a smaller red circle. A white label on the opening end, has a picture of the doll on a cane chair with '501/Baby/Sandy/Honey Blonde hair/made in England/Trendon/Limited/Stockport England/SK56DU/Printed in England/433-807'. On her feet are dark brown leather shoes with an ankle strap fastening with a silver coloured press stud. Around her right wrist is a white string attached to a silver coloured circlet inset with dark blue, white and red with 'Sasha' written in the centre. On the reverse is printed 'MADE IN ENGLAND/SERIE' On the underside of the box is printed 'GB patent no.1104369, USA patent no.3537209, other foreign patents applied for.'
