Summary
A wooden 'Brio' staking toy (circa 1982). The toy is a conical-shaped, clown figure for aged two years and above in its original box. It consists of a yellow wooden lacquered base into which is fixed a white rubber-type, bendable rod. Underneath the wooden base is stamped the logo 'Brio' and 'Made in Sweden', and a paper logo 'Brio' coloured yellow and red on a black background is stuck on the side of the yellow base. Seven circular, wooden discs, lacquered green, red, black, yellow and blue are droppped onto the rod to build up the body of the figure. A red 'wheel' shape depicts a rufflette round the neck onto which is stuck a pink wooden face with painted features. The figure is completed by the addition of a yellow, wooden, conical hat edged with red lacquer and decorated with a descending line of three, small, blue circles. The box containing the toy is made of cardboard with photographs of the clown on two long sides, and the logo 'Brio' and the description in red of the contents 'Wooden toys' in four languages. The two other long sides have the manufacturer's logo 'BRIO' in yellow and red on a black background on the top, left-hand side with the following description of the toy in four languages - 'From two years, Brightly lacquered stacking figure for play with colours and shapes. eleven pieces. Wood - nature's own play material.' The two ends of the box (coloured red) have the logo 'Brio' and the word 'Clown' in white printed on them. Total number of items is 12.
