Summary
A 1960s or early 1970s national costume doll in military Hussars dress (also known as souvenir, world costume, tourist and foreign travel dolls). He has a plastic head, hands and possibly the body. The face has large blue eyes, red coloured cheeks and lips on a flesh toned face. Above the head is a military Hussars style simulated fur headress with a red decoration above the right ear and a black and gold coloured chinstrap. The military uniform dress of the doll is military red, felt on fabric, with conspicious gold coloured decoration at the collar and cuffs and across the chest piece. The same gold coloured braid is carried down the outside of each leg. The dress is finished with highly polished black plastic gaiters over knee length black highly polished boots.
Provenance
One doll from a collection of costume dolls donated by Mr R.T. Macfarlane in 1976.
