Summary
A bisque-headed doll described on the box label as 'Nanny'. She has moulded and painted facial features, with dark brown glass eyes, a slightly open mouth with teeth visible, and very light brown mohair hair. Her body, arms and legs are of composition, jointed at the shoulders and tops of legs. The tip of her right thumb has broken off and is missing. She is quite dirty. She is wearing a thick orange-and-black-striped cotton skirt and a high-necked, long-sleeved blue linen jacket (with white patterns all over), which has a drawstring neck, tied at the front. Under this is a piece of pale blue fabric with a black leafy pattern, which is visible at the front and neck and may represent a blouse. Tied at her waist is a light brown linen apron which has a sheen on it. Underneath she is wearing a petticoat made from stiff white open-weave fabric, and cream linen drawers. She has knee-length orange cotton stockings and black leather shoes with silver-coloured metal buckles at the front. The sole is becoming detached from the right one. She has a gold-coloured glass bead sewn to each side of her head to represent earrings and on her head is a cap made from stiff white open-weave fabric edged with lace. This is quite dirty and the lace is becoming detached.
