Summary
A very ornate bib for a baby (circa 1900 to circa 1910). Possibly worn on special occasions e.g. Christening. The main piece is quilted, with cream, rosebud-sprigged silk as the top layer and white cotton as the bottom layer. In the centre of the front is a white cotton inset oval which has 'baby' and flowers inside a scalloped border, all embroidered in cream thread. The outside edge is decorated with a deep, white lace frill which has a scalloped edge, and the bib fastens at the back by means of a loop of cream tape and a cream mother-of-pearl button. The edge of the lace is slightly frayed and there are several small brown stains.
