Summary
A baby's semi circular white cotton cape that was possibly made to be another garment but never finished. (circa 1850 to circa 1870) It has scalloped edges all around with broderie anglaise type embroidery consisting of flowers and leaves with an openwork loop pattern around the edge. The loop pattern continues up the open front of the cape fastening at the neck with cotton ties. There is a sewn scalloped broderie anglaise collar. The body of the cape is plain white cotton. There is an outline of a large stain on the front.
