Summary
A mottled blue wool child's coat, possibly post 1944 when utility regulations tightened up. The garment is double breasted and closed with two buttons. There are mock button holes on the lapels. There are two pockets with flaps. The back of the coat has a central slit at the bottom. At waist level there are belt carriers and a belt with a buckle but no prong. The inside of the garment is lined with black cotton fabric. In the right hand side seam is sewn a utility mark. Sewn into the right front lining is a fabric label. This label reads 'This is a Del Monte Garment, Made In Scotland. In the top left-hand corner is a shield with a diagonal motif. Attached to the loop at the neck is a swing label, on one side is a photograph of a boy and a girl wearing coats. Printed on the reverse 'This is a Del Monte Garment, Order No. Style, Size, Made In Scotland'. The data filled in in pencil is '10c Q749/ 637 x 208/ 6/ NH/1'.
