Summary
A child's handmade dress (circa 1935) in fine white squared muslin decorated all over with orange and green raised wool spots. The dress has a plain bodice with a long back opening fastened by two small pearl buttons and hand stitched buttonholed loops. The round neck has a broad collar gathered at the front. This gathering is repeated on the centre front of the long sash which is attached at the centre front waistband only. There are short puffed sleeves gathered into a narrow cuff. The full skirt has a broad hand stitched hem. The dress belonged to a little girl called Catherine Mary Evans, who died in 1937 aged 7, after contracting diphtheria , her parents had been advised to not have her vaccinated.
