Summary
A white muslin child's dress with a full skirt gathered on to a high bodice and short, slightly puffed sleeves. There is narrow lace around the round neckline and at the sleeve edges. On each side of the bodice back and front, near the sleeves, are three tiny vertical pintucks. There is a pair of inset panels of narrow lace to either side of the front bodice, with embroidery between the pairs, and a larger embroidered panel at the centre front. At the lower edge of the bodice front is a broderie anglaise border which has narrow ribbon threaded through. The skirt is embroidered (broderie anglaise-style) with vertical patterns of flowers, with a scalloped bottom edge. The dress fastens at the back between the neck and lower edge of the bodice with two mother-of pearl buttons and corresponding buttonholes (the top one is torn).
