Summary
A baby's cotton first shirt (circa 1840 - circa 1860). The sleeves have triangular inserts under the arm and a narrow lace trim. The garment is open at the back, or it could be the front. The neckline has two vertical slits at the shoulder forming a rectangular flap at the front and back which folds down to protect the baby's skin.
