Summary
A pair of children's fingerless mittens (circa 1850 - 1870) in black silky cotton (crepe - possibly), possibly as mourning wear. They are knitted in alternate dull and shiny black giving a tight ribbed finish. There is a narrow shiny band at the end of the open hand and thumb. The wrist end also has a broad shiny band with a narrow shiny band either side of it and finished with a plain nonstretch band. Total number of items is 2.
