Summary
A cardboard lidded box for soap (early 20th century). The lid is decorated with a colour printed paper label showing three cherubs flying with red, yellow, blue and white butterflies over some water. This scene is framed by a dark gold coloured scroll shaped frame. The sides and underside of the box are a pale green colour. Printed on the label on the lid is 'Vinolia, Baby Soap, Manufactured by Vinolia Co. Ltd. London, Paris. New York, V.792'. From the late 19th century Vinolia Co. LTD produced expensive soaps, face and body powders, ointments, perfumes, cosmetics and shaving soap. The brand name now belongs to Unilever and Vinolia is now sold under the ‘Pears’ trademark.
