Summary
A child's cape that is machine made from white linen which has a small floral motif woven into it (circa 1895 - 1900). It has curved lower edges at the front and a zig-zag crochet-edged frill all along the edge, and a large collar, similarly edged. Where the frill is attached to the main piece there is a length of piping sewn in. In several places the fabric has frayed in this area and the piping shows through, especially on the collar. There is a large fabric tie at each side of the neck edge. There are a few tiny brown stains.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mr E. B. Bowyer in June 1976.
