Summary
A woman's white cotton nightdress with broderie anglaise trimming. The garment has tucks from the shoulder to the waist at the front and a yoke across the shoulders at the back. There is an opening at the front which closes with three linen buttons and button holes and is trimmed with a broderie anglaise frill. The collar has a broderie anglaise frill and feather stitch embroidery. The long sleeves are gathered into the armholes and into a cuff which has feather stitch embroidery and a wide frill trimmed with broderie anglaise at the wrist. The rest of the garment is plain.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Miss Heathcote in 1972. A note accompanying the nightdress read 'Nightdress made at Heath Girls' School by the donor when a pupil in 1910. Made for a trousseau'.
