Summary
A child's cropped bodice made of white cotton (1850s). At the front of the bodice is a ruched panel with a border of broderie anglaise bands. A frill of broderie anglaise is attached to the sides and the lower border. The back of the bodice is plain and closes with tapes at the neck and waist and a small pearl button and button hole in between. Around the neck is a small broderie anglaise trim. The short puff sleeves are gathered into the bodice and into the cuff at the elbow, The cuffs are trimmed with feather stitch embroidery and a broderie anglaise trim. They are lined. At the botton of the bodice is a row of feather stitch embroidery. There are also odd bits of thread suggestive of the garment having had a skirt attached.
