Summary
A baby's cream coloured 'carrying' cape with three layers (circa 1850 to circa 1880). There is a dark cream coloured floral pattern embroidered on the collar, round the edge of the shoulder cape and along the bottom edge of the main cape. It is lined with cotton throughout and there are some extra pieces of silk lining on the neck fronts. This looks as if it did line the front edges of both capes but has worn away. A broad ribbon tie fastens the front neck.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Miss Clifford in July 1972.
