Summary
A cream fabric baby's 'carrying' cape with three pin tucks above the hem (circa 1870 to circa 1890). The shoulder cape has a scalloped edge decorated with cream embroidery thread. Also on the shoulder cape is a scalloped and leaf motif in cream silk cord and a woven cream ribbon. There is a white feather down trim forming a collar. The cape fastens at the neck with a large metal press stud and the whole is lined with white cotton.
