Summary
A baby's white linen chemise or open shirt (circa 1850 - circa 1900). The chemise opens at the front and has two flaps which extend above the neckline at the front and back, these are folded down to protect the baby's skin from coarser material which is wrapped around it's body, over the top of the open shirt. The shoulder splits are trimmed with lace and have a row of feather stitch broderie anglaise. The sleeves are also trimmed with broderie anglaise.
