Summary
A child's white cotton 'feeder' (circa 1890 to circa 1920). The feeder (a bib type garment) slips over the head and has a wide neckline. The back is waist length only. The front panel is made from a rectangular piece of material which flares out at the bottom. Both the back and front panels are trimmed with broderie anglaise and the front panel hem is trimmed with a frill of broderie anglaise. The front has a gathered central panel which has two strips of broderie anglaise at each side. At the bottom of this panel is a short strip of broderie anglaise which acts as a waistband. The pinafore ties at the waist with a strip of tape which is attached at one side and open at the other. The surface of the pinafore has a slight sheen and a patterned weave.
