Summary
A long sleeved dress from around 1810 made of white muslin trimmed with cream, satin ribbon. The v-neckline is underlined by ribbon and pin tucks. A strip of ribbon is sewn from the neck to the waist and on the shoulder seams. Four triangular pieces of muslin, edged with ribbon, are sewn from the sleeve tops to the centre back and front waistline. These form four flaps. The gathered sleeves are in three sections finshing with a longest fitted section towards the wrist. The two seams are covered by a strip of ribbon and four strips decorate the hem. The shaped bodice is sewn to a gathered skirt which has four strips of ribbon, round the hem. The dress is fastened at the back by six metal hooks and eyes (one of which is missing). Stitching is coming undone in places.
