Summary
A baby's or doll's fine white cotton blouse with long sleeves (circa 1850 to circa 1900). The item which is in the style of a blouse is very small and may possibly be for a doll or baby. The blouse opens at the front, but has no fastenings. The neckline which is cut lower at the front is trimmed with fine lace. The shoulder have an insert of fine lace, boardered by scalloped design embroidery stitches. The rest of the blouse is plain.
Provenance
Donated to the National Trust in 1973 by Mr Gladwyn Turbutt. A collection of mid 19th to early 20th century children's and babies' garments (also three black and white photographic studio prints of children from the family). All these items came from the donor's family home.
