Summary
A baby's fine muslin dress (circa 1925 to circa 1935) with short puff sleeves. The dress is decorated on the bodice and skirt with small pink and green embroidered flowers with pink and green leaves. The fabric is possibly not English. The neckline has a lace trim as do the sleeves. The front and back of the bodice have vertical rows of rine pintucks. The dress fastens at the back to the waist with three round mother of pearl buttons. The skirt is gathered at the waist and has a scalloped hem which is finished with alternate pink and green embroidery.
Provenance
Donated to the National Trust in 1973 by Mr Gladwyn Turbutt. A collection of mid 19th to early 20th century children's and babies' garments (also three black and white photographic studio prints of children from the family). All these items came from the donor's family home.
