Summary
A pair of pale blue flannel child's breeches (1870s or 1880s) in 1820s style with two inside side pockets. The jacket that matches these trousers is recorded as 658034. The waistband on one side has two horizontal button holes at each edge. The other side of the breeches have four button holes, consisting of a horizontal button hole at each edge and two button holes in the centre. The top of the waistband is edged in white cotton and the inside lining is white cotton twill. There are a few moth holes and stains.
Provenance
Donated to the National Trust in 1973 by Mr Gladwyn Turbutt. A collection of mid 19th to early 20th century children's and babies' garments (also three black and white photographic studio prints of children from the family). All these items came from the donor's family home.
