Summary
A cream linen child's smock (circa 1900 to circa 1930). The front and back are the same with a deep 'V' neck opening, back and front, surmounted by a broad square collar with a bow motif in feather stitching and edged in feather stitching. The centre back and front of the bodice have eight rows of smocking, on either side of which is an embroidered panel comprising two circles with a flower motif inside them. Between these circles is an embroidered bow. The panels are edged in blanket stitch. The long sleeves, with an underarm insert, are gathered into the bodice, tapering to three rows of smocking and a narrow cuff embroidered with a single row of feather stitching. The plain full skirt ends with a broad hem.
