Summary
A pack of fifty two cards in the original red box. On the lid of the box is printed, in black, 'National Games, No 1123, Poems' (circa 1898) and information about the manufacturers. It is No.1123 in a series of educational playing cards. They all were made between 1895 and 1905. Glued to the inside of the lid, printed in black on white paper, are the instructions for playing with the cards. The lid is split at the corners. The back of each card shows an oval black and white picture of Longfellow's home surrounded by a black, white and fellow floral design. The face of the cards are in black and white. Each card is numbered, A1-13 America or B1-13 Ireland or C1-13 England or D1-13 Scotland and has picture above a verse of poetry by one of the countries leading poets. There are two spare cards that advertise other card games. Total number of items is 56.
