Summary
A set of forty eight colour pictorial playing cards for the game entitled 'The New And Diverting Game Of 'Alice In Wonderland'' (circa 1898 to circa 1912). Each card is illustrated with a character and caption from Alice in Wonderland. The reverse of each card is decorated with a floral pattern in red on white. Included with the cards is a set of instructions and a box with a sliding lid. There is also a slip of paper labelled 'In Case Of Complaint'. On the reverse of the box lid is a playing card numbered ten which has a colour illustration of the White Rabbit looking at his fob watch and remarking 'Too late'. Total number of items is 52.
