Summary
These cards and instructions are for the game of Pit by 'Rook Card Company'. Pit was first introduced and patented by 'Parker Brother' in 1904. They consist of sixty one playing cards and two special cards. The face of the playing cards had the name of the cereal e.g. wheat, barley, and a nominal value e.g. 100, 50, in the centre on top of a picture of the American Corn Exchange. The special cards are of a bull and of a bear, with pictures of the relevant animals in the centre of the card. The backs of the cards are in rose red and pink and depict steam ships, sailing ships, trains and grain silos. The instructions consist of a folded single sheet of paper. The front has the name of the game and a group of people playing the game. Total number of items is 65.
