Summary
A board game, entitled 'Historical Pastime or a New Game of the History of England' (circa 1808), which consists of a paper sheet on which is colour printed an enormous spiral of yellow cord with a tassel at the outer end. Filling the spiral are numerous blue, yellow, green and pink circles decorated with scenes or busts of English Sovereigns. In the centre is an oval surrounding the profile bust of George III. The sheet has been pasted to a cardboard backing board. A badly damaged original cardboard box for the above game. It is covered with black, leather imitation, paper on the hinged lid and base. There is gold coloured paper covering the sides which have been split at the corners. Impressed onto the lid in gold coloured lettering is 'Three Victorian Games and Pastimes, The Antique Dealer and Collectors Guide'. Inside the box is a pink paper wallet on which is printed in black ink 'Rules And Directions For Playing The Histroical Pastime; Or New Game Of The History Of England; With A Short Account Of The Principal Events Which Have Occurred, From William The Conqueror, To The Accession Of George The Third. London: Printed For J. Harris, Corner Of St. Paul's Church-Yard; And J. Wallis, No.13, Warwick Square. 1808.' The other games are missing from the box. Total number of items is 3.
