Summary
An oblong wicker basket with two wicker handles on the shorter ends (circa 1925). The basket was owned by Mrs Day (died 1982) and was used in the mid 1920s, for her only baby who died at birth'. The inside has a thin 'cotton' padding which is covered with white, fine cotton material decorated with small pink and pale blue 'daisy' petalled flowers. On the inside on one end of the basket is attached a triangular-shaped padded 'cushion' decorated with two small bouquets of tiny white flowers and surrounded with pale blue ribbons. The 'cushion' has a frill of the same cotton material round the edge. The other end of the basket has a white cotton 'pocket' and decorated in the same style as the 'cushion'. The basket may have been used for 'babycare' items.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs Laura Abbot Bruce Day in February 1983.
