Summary
A white cotton baby's first shirt (circa 1850 to circa 1900) which consists of a long rectangle of fabric with slits down from the top edge each approx 8 cm long. Some of the flaps so formed are joined to make shoulders (2nd and 3rd and 5th and 6th), the others were probably folded over to tuck into another garment. There is narrow lace edging at the armholes and wider lace inserted at the shoulders. All the other edges have narrow hems. There are a few small holes and a few small brown stains.
