Summary
A set of child's reins (circa 1900). The reins are brown leather and consist of two shoulder straps and a waist band. At one end, the shoulder straps are attached to the waistband with loops, the other end attaches to a circular metal ring. From the bottom of the ring two more straps join on to the waistband. The shoulder straps have metal buckles. One strap has six buckle holes, the other seven. The waistband has stitching at the top and the bottom. There is a large metal buckle with partially scalloped sides and five buckle holes. These holes are edged with metal. On the left and right edges of the waistband are two additional metal buckles which fasten into one hole on a small leather loop. The waistband has become twisted in places.
