Summary
An early 20th century 'Britains Ltd' painted lead figure of a man in full stride. In the place of hands the figure has holes to accommodate the handles of a plough. The figure is on a base and dress is painted to show black boots, reddish brown gaiters, brown knee length breeches, with red braces (suspenders) and a cream shirt, sleeves down. The flesh coloured face has red lips, black nose, eyes and eyebrows topped with a yellowish brown turndown hat. The company was founded in 1893 by William Britain Jr and has been branded under numerous names such as as 'W. Britain', 'Britains Ltd' and 'Britains'. But most commonly referred to as 'Britains' by collectors and enthusiasts. The company is still in production today.
