Summary
A bisque doll with moulded and painted facial features and details. Blue glass inset eyes and a blonde mohair wig. Her clothing comprises two lengths of wide dark red satin ribbon - one at the front, the other at the back - fastened with narrow red ribbon across her chest and waist. Beneath are two lengths of cream wool cut with pinking shears and showing evidence of moth holes. Each length of wool is decorated with cream herringbone stitch. In the length at the front of the doll are four haberdasher's pins (two with pearl beads). Beneath are white cotton drawers trimmed with lace. Her feet are painted black to imitate heeled boots, each with two ankle straps. She wears a red satin cap tied under the chin with red ribbon ties.
Provenance
Loaned to the Museum of Childhood by the Betty Cadbury Trust Sudbury in May 1993.
