Summary
Oil painting on canvas, William Warren Vernon (1834-1919) by J. Mazzoni (fl.1874). 1874. Oval. Half-length portrait of a man, dark hair, beard and moustache, facing, head turned slightly to the left and gazing to the left, wearing a black coat, white shirt and red tie. Second son of the 5th Lord Vernon, George John Warren Vernon. William later prefixing the name Borelase-Warren- Venables-Vernon required by the will of Sir John Borlase-Warren but was known as William Warren Vernon.
Provenance
Acquired from 10th Lord Vernon in lieu of death-duties after the death of Francis Lawrence William Venables-Vernon, 9th Lord Vernon (1889 -1963) and transferred to the National Trust in 1967 through the National Land Fund
