Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Frances Margaret Lawrance, Lady Vernon (d.1940) by Jules-Joseph Lefebvre (Tournan-en-Brie 1836 – Paris 1912). Signed and dated: Jules LeFevre./aout 1883. A three-quarter-length portrait of a young woman, seated and turned to the right, gazing at the spectator; her hands clasped on her lap, wearing a white dress with a spray of roses on her left shoulder. Of New York and wife of George William Henry Vernon, 7th Baron Vernon, whom she married in 1885. (Exhibited in Paris Universal Exhibition 1889, No. 890).

Acquired from 10th Lord Vernon in lieu of death-duties after the death of Francis Lawrence William Venables-Vernon, 9th Lord Vernon (1889 -1963) and transferred to the National Trust in 1967 through the National Land Fund
