Summary
An eight day striking English balloon clock in a mahogany case. Signed Myers, Southwark, c.1800. A two train, five pillar fusee movement with anchor escapement and a rack striking on the bell. A circular convex white painted dial with Roman numerals and pierced gilt-brass hands. A mahogany balloon case with satinwood stringing and surmounted by one brass ball finial. Red silk-lined frets to the upper case. Concave section cast brass bezel with convex glass over the dial. There is a Henry Myers of London recorded as a watchmaker in 1804 and a Mary Myers, also working in London, between 1809-1811. Either of these Myers could have produced this clock.
