Summary
A one month going English striking longcase clock in a mahogany case, signed 'Atwell, Uxbridge'. C.1680 with later refurbishment in 1780. A two train and five pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside count wheel hour striking on bell. A brass arch dial with crown and cherub spandrels. Silvered brass chapter ring with Roman numerals and small Arabic five minutes. A quarter hour circle and half hour markers. Ringed winding holes and engraved centre rose, all in a matted dial centre with blued steel hands. A mahogany case with a tall flat top hood, having canted front edges and glazed sides. An arched top on the trunk door with a rectangular panel and shaped feet to the plinth. When the clock was made in c.1680 the movement had a square dial. This has had pieces added to the edges to make it its present size and a name boss added c.1780.
