Summary
Pastel portrait of an 18th century Unidentified Vernon Lady, Katherine Read (1723-1779). Seated half length facing left, looking down; wearing a white silk dress and blue shawl, her right hand holding turban drapery under her chin, drawn oval. Fine carved and pierced rococo giltwood frame. Reattributed by Neil Jeffares.
Provenance
Vernon collection transferred to the Treasury in 1967 following death of 9th Lord Vernon, and transferred to The National Trust in 1967.
