Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Diana Langton,Lady Montgomery-Massingberd (1872 -1963) by Richard Ziegler (b.1891), signed and dated, bottom left: RZ 1943. A three-quarter-length portrait, seated in a red dress,a violin on her lap. In 1896 she married Archibald Montgomery (later Field Marshal Sir Archibald Montgomery) assuming in 1926 the additional surname of Massingberd when she inherited Gunby. In 1944 she was one of the Trustees of the Gunby Estate who presented the house to the National Trust. She was the second daughter of Emily Massingberd and Edmund Langton. On her death in 1963 the Gunby Estate passed to the issue of her elder sister who married General Montgomery.
