Summary
Oil painting on panel, Charles Langton Massingberd (1815-1887) by Henry Wyndham Phillips (London 1820 – Hollowcombe 1868). Dated 1864 on a label. Head and shoulders portrait, facing,wearing black,his hands crossed on a table in front. Second son of Elizabeth Massingberd and Peregrine Langton. He inherited Gunby when his nephew was lost exploring the Amazon. In 1873 he built the North wing and rebuilt the church. 1815-1887.

1944, gifted to the National Trust by Field Marshal Sir Archibald and Lady Montgomery Massingberd.
