Summary
A beech and upholstered open armchair or fauteuil, French, circa 1770. Originally gilded, the padded back and seat within a carved frame, surmounted by finials and raised on turned supports. Re-upholstered, the material woven with the initials D M M (Diana Montgomery-Massingberd).
Provenance
Gifted to the National Trust by Field Marshal Sir Archibald and Lady Montgomery Massingberd in 1944.
