Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Lady Henrietta Cole, Lady Grantham, later Countess de Grey (1784-1848), after Sir Thomas Lawrence, PRA (Bristol 1769 – London 1830), circa 1815. A bust portrait, head turned to left, of the youngest daughter of the 1st Earl of Enniskillen, wearing grey-green dress over white. She married the 3rd Earl of Grantham in 1805. The original portrait of 1814 is in a private collection and has the sitter as Psyche.
Provenance
Presumably painted for the sitter’s family, and thence by descent; removed from Florence Court by the 6th Earl and Countess of Enniskillen to Kinloch House, Aberdeenshire, in 197?; returned by Nancy, Countess of Enniskillen, shortly before her death, in 1998; given to the National Trust by Nancy, Dowager Countess of Enniskillen (1917 – 1998) before her death, August 1997
