Caption
Whether on sea or land, Lawrence loved speed. The smell of petrol and the effect of speed on his body were intense experiences, connecting him to his body and to the earth in the way only war had previously been able to.
Summary
Model of the power boat the Biscuit which Lawrence used at Plymouth and Southampton.
Provenance
An American 'Biscayne Baby' speedboat, used as a ferry during the 1929 Schneider Trophy races. Given to TEL and Sydney Smith that year, and renamed the Biscuit, it made Lawrence interested in speedboats.
