Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Arthur Hallam Elton, 7th Bt MP (1818-1883) by William Gush (fl.1833-1874), circa 1840. A half-length portrait of a young man, turned to the left and gazing to the left, balding with brown hair and long sideburns but otherwise clean-shaven. He wears a dark brown coat, fawn waistcoat, white shirt and black stock, the shirt points just showing above. Son of Sir Charles Abraham Elton, 6th Bt (1778-1853 and Sara Smith (1782-1830); married (i) Rhoda Susan Willis as her second husband and (ii) Eliza Stradling as her second husband.
Provenance
Accepted in lieu of tax 1995 from the estate of Lady Margaret Ann Elton (1915 -1995) and transferred to The National Trust in 1998
