Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Laura Beatrice Elton, Mrs George Gibbs (1842-1911), as a young girl by William Gush (fl.1833-1874), circa 1850. A portrait of the daughter of Sir Arthur Hallam Elton 7th Bt MP (1818-1883) and his first wife Rhoda Susan Willis as a young girl, three-quarter length, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, sitting under trees, with Clevedon Court in the background, she has a wicker basket of flowers in her lap, and hold the handle with her left hand. She has long dark brown hair falling in ringlets on her shoulders, and wears a pale grey silk short coat with long sleeves, over a pink silk skirt. She married George Monck Gibbs (1838 - 1881) of Belmont.
